I am a solicitor practicing family law in Covent Garden in London.
Family law is a difficult but rewarding practice area. The law itself is fascinating and constantly developing in an often unpredictable manner. I believe that it is important not only to keep up to date with these developments but to analyse and debate what they may mean for the future of family law in this country and internationally. I launched Emma's Family Law Blog in 2012 with the purpose of doing just that. I also aim to present these often controversial issues in a balanced manner which is not always a priority for the media who are sometimes just looking for a story to fit their next big headline.
I studied law at University College London graduating in 2005 and completing a Masters (LLM) in Public International Law in 2006. After exploring the job market and working for a legal advice NGO in Berlin, I returned to London in 2008 to complete the Legal Practice Course at The College of Law (now University of Law) in Bloomsbury. I then went on to complete a training contract with Spring Law , a firm specialising in providing legal advice to entrepreneurs. I qualified into their Private Client & Family Team in 2011.
